I've grown up in the Midwest my whole life, either rural Wisconsin or Chicago, it has played a role in my design as well as my communication. Knowing I have an accent because of where I grew up, I wanted to pay tribute to it by taking this auditory experience and place it on the printed page. After doing extensive research about the Midwest and how we speak, I took people from the Midwest and prompted them to say specific works, without actually saying the word to them. I converted the audio into waveforms, and compared them. Above is the complete collection of comparions, to the right is what each pair is looking at, and below is a full process book including research, design strategy, and reflection.
